The James Beard Public Market is finally coming to downtown Portland

Plans have been floated for many years to bring a public market to Portland. It would be called the James Beard Public Market, and would be similar to Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

We’re much closer to this dream becoming reality, as the project’s backers have leased retail space and bought an adjacent building in the heart of downtown Portland, and design plans have been approved for these historic buildings.

The market will span 40,000 square feet at SW 6th and Alder. 40 individual spaces will include:

  • restaurant

  • bakery

  • cheese store

  • wine shop

  • teaching kitchen

  • cookbook store

  • butcher

  • fish market

  • event space

  • fresh fruits and veggies

We can’t wait to see this take shape!
